Smoothies are incredibly healthy, easy to make, and a great way to fuel the whole family in the morning. They even enable you to trick your kids into eating the fruits and veggies they don’t like. Another great perk? You can use fresh seasonal ingredients as well as frozen ones to make smoothies, making it a handy plan all year long! Here are a few of our favorite smoothies to mix up a healthy treat each morning.
Fruit and Yogurt Smoothie
This vibrant and refreshing smoothie includes bananas, strawberries, fruit juice, and yogurt. Add 2 cups of strawberries and 1-2 ripe bananas, 1 cup of orange or pineapple juice, ½ cup Greek yogurt, and sugar or honey to taste in a blender. Add ice cubes and blend until well combined. If you want to cut the sweetness a bit, swap out the fruit juice with regular or plant-based milk. You can also enhance the taste by adding a few drops of vanilla essence.
Fig Smoothie
Using figs to make smoothies mean you’ll get thicker and creamier smoothies thanks to the sticky texture of the fruit. It’s also a great way to rid your fridge of this perishable fruit as fast as possible. This fig smoothie will only need 6 fresh figs, 2 frozen bananas, ¾ cup milk, and ¾ cup orange juice. Peel and chop the bananas, half the figs, throw them into a blender jar, add milk and juice, and then puree until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses or add ice cubes. Yum!
Blueberry Cream Slush
This smoothie is all about the goodness of berries and the richness of vanilla yogurt. To make this, first place frozen blueberries and frozen strawberries, 1 cup each, into a blender. Add 1 cup of vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of orange and pineapple juice mix, and 2 teaspoons of sugar, and blend until smooth. Then add 6 ice cubes and blend again. Pour into glasses and enjoy! If there’s any leftover, thaw it out in the freezer for an hour before blending again for a quick treat.
Almond Butter and Blueberry Smoothie
This delicious smoothie includes almond butter for a creamy and nutty taste, vanilla protein powder for nutrition, blueberries for the fruity sweetness, and chia seeds for a refreshing kick. To make this, blend 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1-2 tablespoons of almond butter, 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds, and 4-6 ice cubes until smooth and creamy. You can also add other berries if you like. This is the best way to start your day!
Avocado Smoothie
Avocados are a breakfast staple, and this incredibly delicious smoothie is a great way to use your extra avocados and start your day with a refreshing kick! Thanks to its thick, rich, and creamy milkshake-like consistency, it will be your kids’ favorite summertime smoothie. To prepare it, put 1 cup of milk, 1 halved and pitted ripe avocado, ½ cup of vanilla yogurt, 3 tablespoons of honey, and 8 ice cubes into a blender and blend well until smooth. Voila!
